The Ten Series is a foundational Rolfing® Structural Integration protocol that aims to balance and optimize the structure and movement of the entire body. This series of ten sessions is designed to systematically release restrictions and address both symptoms and their underlying causes. By working holistically, the series facilitates a transformative process that leads to lasting, functional change in the body. This progressive series of treatments is designed to work through the body systematically, bringing about lasting structural changes that improve posture, movement, and overall well-being.

The Ten Series is typically divided into three phases:

Sessions 1-3: Surface Layer Work

The first three sessions focus on loosening and balancing the superficial layers of connective tissue, setting the stage for deeper work in subsequent sessions.

  • Session 1: The goal is to improve the quality of breath and free up the arms, rib cage, and diaphragm. This session ends with neck and spine integration, a key element that will be revisited in each session.
  • Session 2: This session targets the body's foundation by addressing the feet and lower legs. By balancing these areas, we help establish a stable base for the rest of the body.
  • Session 3: Focuses on the side lines of the body, from the ankles all the way to the ears. This work helps open up the lateral body, improving movement and flexibility

Sessions 4-7: Core Treatments

Sessions 4 through 7 focus on the body’s core, from the pelvis to the head. These sessions aim to deepen the work and restore structural integrity to key areas of the body.

  • Session 4: Works from the inside arch of the foot up the leg to the bottom of the pelvis, helping to establish better support and alignment.
  • Session 5: Targets the pelvis, deep abdominal muscles, and the curve of the lower back, working to balance and stabilize the core.
  • Session 6: Focuses on the back and spine, enhancing support and mobility to improve posture and movement.
  • Session 7: Addresses the neck and head, promoting better alignment, balance, and fluidity of movement.

Sessions 8-10: Integration and Final Adjustments

The final three sessions focus on integrating the work and resolving any remaining restrictions. These sessions help fine-tune movement and coordination for a more harmonious and functional body.

  • Session 8 & 9: These sessions are tailored to each individual’s unique needs. They are focused on addressing any lingering issues or imbalances and refining the work done in the earlier sessions.
  • Session 10: The final session is a holistic integration, bringing together all the work from the previous sessions and ensuring the body functions as a cohesive whole.
